Although there are corrupt officers, we will never accept the label of being the most corrupt institution – IGP.
Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, has acknowledged that some Service members participate in corrupt behavior.
The IGP, however, is adamant that his administration will never accept the label that the Ghana Police Service is the nation’s most dishonest public organization.
The Ghanaian public views the Police Service as the most corrupt organization, according to a research released last month by the Ghana Statistical Service and the Ghana Centre for Democratic Governance (CDD-Ghana).
Dr. George Akuffo Dampare emphasized that the findings are not real when delivering a public lecture on Thursday, August 11, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He claims that even while certain officers engage in corrupt behavior that harms the reputation of the service, this in no way indicates that his organization is the most corrupt organization.
“They claim that we are corrupt, but there is a fix for every problem. We have never stated that a few individuals are not defiling the service’s reputation by acting in an unethical manner.
The IGP stated, “We are doing everything we can to address it, but we will never accept the label that we are the leading corrupt institution; it is untrue since I have questioned the techniques in all of those researches.”
“At the proper moment, we will reply to them,” Dr. George Akufo-Dampare added, “but we will also be working at the things that people have been using against us over the years and that make us feel so uncomfortable when it comes to the issue of corruption.”
