Construction of the Boankra Inland Port will start in August 2022-Kennedy Osei Nyarko.

Kennedy Osei Nyarko, a member of parliament for Akim Swedru, promised that construction on the Boankra Inland Port Project will begin in August 2022.

He said that his administration will start the long-delayed project.

The project’s engineering design and impact assessment were both finished, according to information provided by the chairman of the Parliamentary Roads Committee.

“Be on the lookout for the Boankra Inland Port Project’s construction to start in August. This project will be carried out by Joshob Construction Limited.

“God willing, the Boankra Inland Port, which has been planned for decades, will be built in August. He posted on his official Facebook page that “Parliament has given $330 million concession for the developers to work on the port and they are made up of Koreans and Ghanaians.

The actual work was supposed to begin in October 2020, however due of the coronavirus sickness (COVID-19), procedures had to stop, postponing the work and the process.

He emphasized that “In fact, we are not going to run away from this initiative,” even if the procedure had been delayed because of the COVID-19 outbreak. It has been planned for a while, and I can guarantee that construction will begin in August.

He said that the project was a component of the strategic transportation network being built to provide import and export services to the country’s center and northern regions.

The Kufour government launched the Boankra project in 2003 after completing the essential feasibility studies; however, more than 15 years after the project’s inception, real building work has yet to begin.

The project was restarted last two years after sod was formally cut by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The congressman said that the administration was still committed to ensuring that the project was completed.
