Convert the National Cathedral into a housing and vocational facility for Kayayei – NGSJF for Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has been urged by Mr. Yahaya Alhassan of the New Ghana Social Justice Forum (NGSJF) to repurpose the National Cathedral into a housing and training facility for the underprivileged members of society.

“There are many lives discovered in our great cities, and God/Allah would prefer refuge for these homeless nursing mothers, girls, children, and orphans than erecting a national cathedral,” said Mr. Alhassan during a news conference in Accra.

The NGSJF president claims that the request is consistent with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign pledge to offer housing for head potters (kayayei).

Mr. Alhassan pleaded with foreign donor nations and groups to persuade Ghana not to proceed with the temple’s development in the face of corruption, homelessness, bad roads, poorly paid professors, a flooded village, etc. or to halt all funding altogether.

He consequently urged the board of trustees to abandon the initiative as Dr. Mensa Otabil did.
