Gemma Owen, Michael Owen’s daughter, goes on a date while he discusses preparations for the Love Island “meet the parents” episode
Every Love Island fan is aware that the competitors who advance to the final episodes often get the opportunity to invite family or friends to the villa and even get to know the parents of the partners they have paired up with.
There has been much conjecture about whether England player Michael Owen, whose daughter Gemma Owen is competing in this season, would put on his shorts and show up poolside in Majorca to meet her potential new love interest.
The Love Island finale is expected to take place towards the beginning of August, so fans may still be in attendance to film the family reunion moments. Earlier this week, viewers witnessed Gemma embark on her first date with Luca Bish outside the resort.
So, if Gemma, 19, does make it, would her well-known father show up?
Well, most likely not.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports’ At The Races when he was in attendance at an event in Chester on Friday, Michael Owen, who played for Liverpool, Newcastle, and England in addition to owning racehorses, was questioned about his Love Island ambitions.
When asked which was more nerve-wracking, watching Gemma on Love Island or his horses, he said, “Definitely” the horse racing.
I believe [the horse] will always run his race, but I am aware of what my daughter will bring me. Since I have been her parent for 19 years, I am very certain of what I will get from her.
The football player was then questioned over a prospective guest appearance in the villa.
He said, “My wife may do that function. She may symbolize the girl, and I will represent the horses.
Sorry, Love Island, but it’s clear from the first that Michael Owen is not your type.
