Ghanaian passport and marriage certificate of Aisha Huang were both fakes – Witness tells court
Aisha Huang’s second prosecution witness testified before the High Court in Accra that she obtained an indefinite residency visa using a fake Ghanaian passport and marriage certificate.
The witness, Superintendent of Immigration David Essien, has been employed by the Ghana Immigration Service for the past nine years and is a member of the Kumasi Enforcement Unit.
He testified before the court that Aisha Huang had a “indefinite residence permit” as a result of her “supposed marriage to a Ghanaian named Anthony Fabian.”
Supt. Essien said that investigations showed the documents were faked and submitted in her permit application.
The Ghana Immigration Service’s Comptroller General subsequently canceled the permission on the grounds of false misrepresentation.
The witness testified before the court that this action was taken in accordance with section 22(2a) of the Immigration Act of 2000. (Act 573).
The witness informed the court that Aisha Huang was subsequently repatriated as well on December 19, 2018.
The trial has been continued until Tuesday, November 15, 2022, so Aisha Huang’s attorneys can continue their cross-examination.
