Ofori-Atta can’t have his cake and eat it too; sacrifice him and give Bawumia his ministry, said Allotey Jacobs.

Benard Allotey Jacobs, a social commentator and former central regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is pleading with the Akufo-Addo administration to give Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the Finance Ministry.

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, during the discussion segment of Accra-based Peace FM that this portal was listening to, he emphasized that the government should sacrifice his “lovely” Ofori-Atta for the benefit of the ministry in light of the ongoing negotiations between the government and representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Vice President, who is in charge of the nation’s economic management team, would be a better choice to steer the conversation on behalf of the Ghanaian authorities, according to Allotey Jacobs.

“I advise the President to give Dr. Bawumia control of the Finance Ministry. It’s a reality that sometimes you have to make sacrifices; it’s essential in politics, therefore he should place that ministry under Bawumia, the man advises.

However, the former NDC stalwart insisted that his assertion does not imply that the Finance Minister is incompetent and that he should not be permitted to lead the finance ministry once again because he feels the present economic situation is a result of his actions.

Since he has headed the team (Economic Management Team), Dr. Bawumia should be in charge of that Ministry. The Finance Minister cannot have it all if he plans to take the country to the IMF. How?” he asks.
