Police ought to have detained the organizers of the Arise Ghana Demo by now, said by a Security Analyst

According to Mr. Richard Kumadoe, a security analyst, the police should have made the organizers of the Arise Ghana ‘krom ay3 hye’ rally into custody by this point.

On June 28, 2022, the first day of the protest, mayhem reigned as protestors threw rocks at police officers and their cars.

The Police then replied by using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the unruly throng.

The Arise Ghana demonstration’s organizers will be detained, the Ghana Police Service said in a news statement.

Parts of a police statement last night, which was signed by Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi, stated that “..the organizers of the demonstration will be arrested and put before court for the attacks and damage to public property, in accordance with the provisions of Section 3 of the Public Order Act, (Act 491).”

On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, Security Analyst Mr. Richard Kumadoe said on TV3’s New Program that the Police ought to have already made the arrest.

He believes that by delaying the arrest of the organizers, they may be able to rally more demonstrators for today’s second day of the protest.

“They ought to have been detained by now, but because the leaders are still free, it gives them the ability to rally their followers as well.

Richard Kumadoe said, “I only hope and pray that we only have one country called Ghana, and whether we are protesting or providing law enforcement, let us be circumspect, let us be prudent, and ensure that public safety is assured while we also achieve the aim of whatever we want to put across because there are many days ahead and many things are going to happen.

The Ghana Police, meantime, has said that it has managed to detain 29 demonstrators who are accused of causing the commotion.
