Prior to the launch of YouStart, pay our eight-month debt – NABCo trainees to government
The NABCo Trainees Association of Ghana has requested that before starting the YouStart program, another youth employment initiative, the government pay the 8-month allowance arrears owed to all NABCo beneficiaries.
This comes after what the NABTAG leadership described as continued efforts by the government to enroll certain trainees in the program that has yet to begin.
“We do appreciate the ongoing processes aimed at enroling section of trainees on to the yet-to-be-launched YouStart program, but we are pleading with government to pay the arrears due the disgruntled trainees because we are suffering,” NABTAG said in a statement released and signed by its National President, Mr. Dennis Opoku Katakyie.
It stated: “It does not convey the appropriate signal when you are preparing for the launch of YouStart but have not paid NABCo trainees for the previous eight months, which has put them in extreme difficulty.”
The statement posed the question, “What positive guarantee can that give to enlighten the public on the perspective of the YouStart?
Additionally, it urged the GES to finish the procedures for providing permanent appointments to Educate Ghana Trainees. There has been no progress made in the effort to gather data for much too long.
It added: “‘Ɛkɔm de yɛn’ (we are hungry), and we may not live to see the economy bounce back, Mr. President.”
