After being eliminated from the Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, the Nigerian U-20 women’s team was spotted sleeping on airport chairs and floors as they traveled back home.
On Sunday, August 20, the Falconets suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands in the quarterfinal round.
Following their elimination from the competition, the Nigerian squad departed from Costa Rica for their home nation on Monday.
From Costa Rica, they traveled to Colombia, where they connected to fly to Istanbul.
Sarafina Napoleon, a Nigerian journalist, claims that the team departed the host nation fairly early but was delayed for more than 19 hours in Istanbul.
The team triumphed admirably in Costa Rica during the group stage before falling to the Dutch in the semifinals.
